If you have dreamed of visiting one of the most beautiful places on earth, then Jasper National Park in Canada will pleasantly surprise you. There is something to see here.

The main task is to preserve the unique nature

In 1907, this area of about 11,000 square kilometers was called the Forest Park. This was the beginning of the 20th century, as soon as cars and mechanisms appeared. Man began to actively explore territories on the planet.

In 1930, as a result of these activities, the ecology began to deteriorate, and the Canadian authorities realized that they had in their hands an invaluable gift of nature in the form of amazing mountain ranges, crystal clear lakes, forests, in which many animals and birds live.

A goal was set - to preserve the unique nature, of which there are not so many left on the planet. It was at this time that the park was assigned the category of a nature conservation area and was named after the first fur collector who lived here in the 19th century. The main task, of course, is to protect, preserve and increase.

Scientific work to restore the number of animals is carried out on the territory of the park all year round. The most valuable species and varieties are especially vigilantly protected. There are zones on the territory of the park where it is forbidden to use any means of transport that can harm, that is, everything that gives off exhaust to the atmosphere.

We also recommend visiting another unique place in Canada - Banff National Park.

When is the best time to go

You can go to Jasper Park whenever you want. The rocky mountains, which are an integral part of the park, are not only very beautiful, but quite difficult to climb, so they are a paradise for climbers both in summer and winter.

Landscape lovers will feel comfortable here at any time of the year. The photos are breathtakingly beautiful. There are many areas in the park where you can take pictures or just admire these beautiful mountains and turquoise lakes. Primordial forests, some of which are 700-800 years old, also deserve a place in your photo album.

Traveling through the park, you will meet not only beautiful waterfalls and crystal clear lakes, but also animals and birds that are not afraid of humans. Along the road along which cars drive, deer with hairy beautiful horns nibble at the grass. Animals, of course, are not tame, but they will not run away from you either. You will be able to view and photograph them at a distance of less than two meters.

Professionals or amateurs of photography will have to stock up on batteries and several memory cards, because your camera will have to memorize a lot. You can contemplate this beauty from the water. Kayaks, canoes, rafts are available for rent. On them you can swim on lakes, raft along rivers with waterfalls and without, and those who like to sit with a fishing rod are simply smeared with honey here.

It's early morning, there is silence around, you can already hear it. The view is such that it takes your breath away from pride in these beauties. At dawn from the shore or from a boat you cast your fishing rod ... Trout was brought here and launched back in the 19th century. She is so free and satisfying in this clean reservoir that since then she reproduces here and grows. If no one breaks the rules and only fish with a fishing rod, then everyone will enjoy pleasure for many years.

On the lakes of Jasper Park, there are several campsites for those who like to live in nature in a tent, eat on the shore by the fire and breathe in the air of the Earth. In winter, the park turns into a wonderful ski resort with slopes worthy of champions.

Pearls in the necklace of the park

Any tourist, if he is not a local resident, has a time limit. To do this, you need to prioritize yourself.

Athabasca glacier

The Athabasca Glacier, named for the river, is the oldest and most accessible glacier to visit. Dress warmly before visiting the glacier.

Athabasca river

The Athabasca River, along which streams of travelers mainly move, is interrupted by the waterfall of the same name. From a height of 23 meters, a stormy stream breaks down into the gorge, sweeping away everything in its path. You can endlessly watch this bewitching sight. The landscape you place on your desktop is dizzying.

Malin Canyon

The waters of this river have been sharpening the surrounding mountains for millennia. As a result of this very long work, the Malin Canyon was carved. Where the canyon is about two meters wide, the turbulent river turns into a small stream. Millions of years of limestone canyon walls contain fossils that are hard to imagine more than 300 million years old.

Medicine lake

Further along the way, the lake, which for some reason is called medical - Medicine Lake. It is small, but trout is found in it. You can go to the middle without a boat and a wonderful bite is provided.

Cave

Not only natural beauty awaits you. It turns out that you are far from the first people here. A prehistoric cave with cave paintings and artifacts will make an archaeologist tremble. Before the arrival of the Europeans, of course, people of the Shuswal, Sners, Blackfoot tribes lived here.

Handicap and fauna

The mountain ranges of the park are adjacent to lush vegetation and animals of various species. Wapiti deer walk in the park without fear. Grizzly bears, Canadian lynx do not like to pose. But with good optics, you can capture them at a distance of about 300 meters.

Flying squirrels and red squirrels liven up the landscape by jumping or flying from tree to tree. There are about 200 species of birds in this ecologically clean place. Plants are presented in a wide variety, but they are mainly evergreens: fir, larch, spruce and juniper. The smell is such that you go crazy! It is very easy to breathe.

Of particular note is the Douglas spruce, which is quite rare in the wild. It is characteristic that the spruce itself evens out its balance, builds up wood, where it is not enough. That is why among this species you will not find crooked trees.

How to get there on your own

It is better to get here by car, which can be rented at Calgary Airport.

Highway 16 (Yellowhead) leads through the entire park. There are direct trains from Edmont and Vancouver to your destination. The city of Jasper is located in the park itself in the valley of the Athabasca River. Here is the junction of the Canadian Railways.
